What we have & What we need more of?

Hurrah for me! An Arduino Birthday gift from my other half. He took me seriously when I said that I wanted to build a Robot. More importantly I wasn't kidding when I said it. That said, its difficult to know where to start.

Mentioning this to my friends, I realised that in fact, I didn't want know how I would start in building a Robot. Instead, I discussed this and reminiscing with collaborating with others at University. Breaking forms down and by approaching a project with abstract forms. I figured that building a Robot was going to be difficult, very difficult in fact.

By first taking the definition of what a Robot is, its purposes and how it could benefit someone, I started looking into AI. In fact, I could work on a project, build something that would be far less complex, nonetheless, it goes that anything with wanting takes a lot of courage to achieve.

Looking it from a design engineer point of view, I figured that one of the greatest achievements for a Robot to achieve would be for it to Dance. For it took acknowledge the high and the low notes and for it to respond to it would be exceptional.

Over the weekend, I came pass this fun garden sculpture at YSP (Yorkshire Sculpture Park). Music was played when people walked through to the Garden. The idea struck; what if people were encouraged to dance and by doing so, they would create their own music and how would this actually work with other elements such as lights? If this could work, how about creating some sort of energy generator by movement.

Its easy to think of big schemes and to achieve something on a grand scale but before going down No Return Lane - I should be sure what it is that I am trying to create and my purpose here.

Its not what we have already, its about what we need more of?

There are many things I suppose that many of you could think of but what I think many people can agree with is Music. How our body responds to layer upon layer of sounds put together.
